TCP 3-way handshake thiết lập kết nối tin cậy bằng cách đồng bộ hóa Sequence Number giữa hai đầu thiết bị qua 3 bước: SYN, SYN-ACK, và ACK. Ba bước là số lượng tối thiểu để cả hai bên xác nhận khả năng truyền-nhận hai chiều và ngăn chặn các kết nối cũ bị trùng lặp do trễ mạng.
